The Efficacy Of Natural Treatments For Constipation
The condition of being constipated is endemic to the population of most countries with an incidence rate pegged at about 15%. Most of the people who are afflicted make no attempt to treat, and even less ask for advice or help from a health services figure. This is understandable as the condition is somewhat embarrassing, which explains the general reluctant to report to physicians.
Due to the embarrassing nature of this condition, many of the people who look for treatment try out home-based and natural therapies. An informed understanding of these remedies is needed to obviate potential dangers. In particular, it’s remarked here that natural constipation treatments aren’t automatically safe.
The most commonly used herb is the senna plant. The senna plant has powerful laxative properties due to high concentrations of anthraquinones. Anthraquinones have been found to increase intestinal activity and speed up movement of stool. It can be obtained as either tablets or in bags of leaves to be prepared as a tea. The cascara plant also has a history of being a natural laxative but has since been banned by the FDA.
While senna is a chemical agent that stimulates the colon to move its contents more quickly, mineral oil is an entirely different kind of agent used as a natural constipation treatment. When taken by mouth, it enters the intestine where it coats the stool. Since oil is a water repellent, the stool becomes protected against loss of fluid. This enables it to remain bulky and therefore move more quickly. Doctor and scientists call this a lubricant laxative which is a bit of a misnomer.
More widespread than either of the above are natural constipation treatments based on fiber. A popular one is psyllium. The psyllium plant is famous for having seeds that contain a lot of fiber. The seeds are usually processed into fine powder form which can then be dissolved. Retailers like nutritional supplement stores carry brand names like Metamucil which are incarnations of psyllium.
The linseed, otherwise known as flaxseed, is an additional high-fiber source. It’s occasionally treated like psyllium and crushed into powder form. Taking it not only helps with constipation due to its fiber, but may reduce cholesterol according to limited reports. More research will confirm or invalidate these results. The oil of the linseed is not often used.
It’s true of any natural treatment that the advice of a health professional be sought. A physician has much more expertise and knowledge than a layman on whether a natural constipation treatment is reasonable or not. Even if it’s effective, any particular treatment may have warnings on who should and shouldn’t take it. Acquiring more knowledge about the warnings should be of paramount importance for any subject.

The Secret Diet Snacks Strategy
You are in the middle of work or school and then it hits you. You just got done eating too. Why would you be hungry now? You run over to the vending machine and put in your money and a bag of chips comes sliding down the chute. You then think about your diet and how this is a shame to break it on a measly bag of chips. You wish there were some better diet snacks for you to eat right about now.
What are all of the healthy snack options at my disposal? Shouldn’t I just run over to the gas station and grab a candy bar or something?
One thing I would have to say about this is to not go grab it from a vending machine. All vending machines tend to have the tendency of having nothing but unhealthy foods that are fattening. These kind of foods are high in fat and a lot of simple crabs. They are the kind of food that are mass produced to be sold at cheap prices. They are also the kind of food that are packaged and preserved in unhealthy ways. There will occasionally be a vending machine with a good option or two though. They will have things like whole wheat chips or some dried fruit. There are even some refrigerated machines that have foods like yogurt and milk. Try to avoid vending machines if you can though. There is always going to be a better alternative.
The best snacks you will come across are whole and healthy foods like fruit and vegetables. You could also make yourself a healthy sandwich out of healthy ingredients too! If you can refrigerate foods that would be best as than you could have many more options at your disposal. Some refrigerated options are yogurt, sliced apples, and many more!
The number one rule about snacks would have to be to count the calories. Try to aim in the several hundred calorie range. It would be best to avoid going over 400 calories or else that would just be a full blown meal. Fruits and vegetables are the best when it comes to finding low calorie alternatives. Try all of the options you can think of and keep counting!
It would probably be best to pack a snack ahead of time. You never know when you’re going to want one. Most people crave a bite while at work or doing something that requires them to be in one spot. So if you’re able to bring something take advantage of it! If your place of work has a fridge grab some yogurt or something to put in it.
That is all you need to know to find a great snack that will be healthy and delicious! Stay away from the fattening packaged food and try to find something fresh!

The Truth Regarding The Acai Berry Diet And Weight Loss
You have seen it, I’m sure you have because it is all over the Internet and anyone who is probing for ways to lose weight has no doubt heard about the acai berry diet and the magical way it can help you lose weight. Merely consume this tiny little berry that tastes similar to a blueberry dipped in dark chocolate and the weight will drop off your body like magic. As you read some of the claims you would think that is how it happens but that is not precisely it.
The acai berry is only found in the Brazilian rainforest and that could be part of the magic but the truth is that the acai berry cannot help you lose weight any more than the blueberry that is grown in the state of Maine. When it comes to weight loss there really are no magical potions or magic bullets.
In spite of this, the acai berry can be a help to weight loss and an aid to our bodies for the deterrence of diseases, the reduction of inflammation in our bodies and the slowdown of the aging procedure. It is not because this little berry is a magical fruit but rather because this berry is one of the healthiest and most nutritious foods ever found in nature.
The Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity or the ORAC score is the way the antioxidant capacity is measured in foods. The acai berry has one of the highest ORAC scores ever found in a food. It actually has more than 10 times the amount of antioxidants as red grapes and even twice as much as blueberries, which are an additional powerful fruit.
The acai berry is also high in the essential fatty acids Omega 3, Omega 6 and Omega 9. Up to 50% of the edible pulp is comprised of these fatty acids and monounsaturated oleic acid, which is the same healthy fat that is found in olive oil.
Astonishingly this tiny little powerhouse berry also contains 19 amino acids, which are the building blocks to protein. They also contain vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, C and E along with potassium, magnesium, calcium, copper and zinc.
Acai berries are really perishable and it has only been in very recent times that it has been offered outside of Brazil at all. The berries have got to be processed within 24 hours of removal from the tree in order to preserve the nutritional integrity of the fruit. Different processing methods yield different results and the best way to process these berries is with a freeze-drying method.
It does not matter what everyone says the acai berry is not a mystical concoction that will help you lose weight but this small berry is an extremely and highly nutritious food that can help you to acquire optimal health and energy. When you give your body optimal nutrition it responds positively to diet and exercise and the weight will come off.

Yes, when I made that statement, it sure shocked lots of people.

1. Avocadoes. This is my favorite fat burning food. It is what I called the super fatty food. It makes anything you add it to creamier and tastier and is jam-packed with tons of vitamins, minerals and those awesome antioxidants.
This is one fat source you don’t want to miss because the fats inside avocadoes are actually healthy fats that helps to control your appetite as well as that fantastic fat burning hormones in your body, thereby increasing your fat burning rate.
What you want to do is to start adding slices of avocadoes or guocamole (a Mexican originated avocado-based dip) to everything such as salads, eggs, burgers and sandwiches. If you do that, you will start burning body fat faster!
2. Egg yolk. Egg yolks has mistakenly been labeled as unhealthy food due to its high fat and cholesterol content. What most people don’t realize however is that the high cholesterol in egg yolks are actually of the GOOD cholesterol variety that your body needs to maintain the good/bad cholesterol levels.
Furthermore, if you choose eggs from free-ranging hens (those that are not caged), the omega-3 fat content is actually higher with a more balanced fat profile.

3. Grass-fed beef. This is one great food source that we sorely lack nowadays. You see, most of the beef you find in the grocery stores come from cattles that are fed grains or even meats (yes that is crazy since cattles are supposed to be herbivores – that is how messed-up our food system has become).
Now these grain-fed cattles has lower levels of nutrition and are not in their best of health. Their fatty acids ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 are sky high. We want the reverse – higher omega-3 fats instead of omega-6 (we get too much omega-6 anyway).
But if you get those cattles who are fed the natural way (grass-fed), you will find that the beef contains high levels of omega-3 fats and higher levels of vitamins and minerals. Grass-fed beef also contains higher levels of CLA (conjugated linoleic acid). CLA is a healthy fat that helps in muscle building and in burning fats.

Easy Solutions To Lose Weight and Stay In Shape
Basically, the best muscle burning technique is through cardiovascular exercises. This helps in burning a lot of fat and calories which will significantly help in weight loss. Diet is also an important factor in order for you to lose fat and in most cases this is the most difficult part of weight loss.
Dieting doesn’t mean that you have to starve yourself in order for you to lose fat. Eating right is. What this means is that you need to eat less fatty foods and eat more foods that your body needs in order to function every day. Eat foods that have plenty of fiber and in order to promote muscle growth, eat food with plenty of protein, such as beef.
If you can, try and reduce the amount of carbohydrates that you take in day by day. If you are able to cut your intake of carbs down by 30%, then you will start to notice a significant amount of weight loss over a short period of time.
One way to jump start your metabolism for the day, would be to go for a 30 minute jog when you first wake up in the morning, before breakfast. This will get your heart rate pumping first thing when you wake up, and then you will be feeling great for the rest of the day. Jogging to lose weight is really a great way to shed pounds.
Muscle training should also be done about 2-3 times a week, the more the merrier, but make sure that you work your way up slowly so you don’t injure yourself. Free weights are the best for weight loss as they use primary and secondary muscles when you are using them.
If you just want to increase your strength, such as a power lifter, then you will want to lower the amount of repetitions that you do, and increase the amount of weight that you are using. Reverse that process if you are trying to burn fat.
There is a lot more to weight loss than this, but this is definitely enough valuable information to get you started. There is no magic weight loss program out there, to lose weight will require eating healthy and staying on a consistent workout schedule.

Discover The Nutrients Of The Acai Berry
One of the world’s finest “superfoods” is a tiny, little berry that is grown only in the rainforests of Brazil. The acai berry has been touted as a miracle food for anti-aging, weight loss, disease prevention and more.
Many of these claims are almost certainly highly exaggerated since there are many, many highly nutritious “superfoods” found in nature and there is no single “miracle” food that can cure all that ails you. The acai berry is just another in a long line of nutritious foods.
The acai berry does have some of the highest antioxidant qualities found on the planet. It has two times as many antioxidants as blueberries and even 10 times as many as red grapes. Not only that but it also has a good supply of monounsaturated fats and essential fatty acids in the forms of oleic acid and Omega 3, 6 and 9. It is also rich with healthy dietary fiber and phytosterols.
The bottom line is that the acai berry is one of the healthiest and highest antioxidant laden foods found in the world. Our bodies want these healthy nutrients to perform at optimal levels. But this little berry is not the only remedy to all of your nutritional needs and it is not the only thing that can aid you when it comes to anti-aging, fat-fighting and disease prevention. The acai berry is only a piece of the quest of fantastic health.
Actually, it has been found that while it is possible to get antioxidants and other nutrients from supplements it is far superior to get your nutrients from your diet. All nutrients including antioxidants, essential fatty acids, amino acids, vitamins and all the others work best when the synergy of many nutrients work together in concert. In other words, when it comes to nutrition the synergy of the whole is far superior to the singularity of just one.
In order to obtain the maximum benefit from the acai berry it needs to be incorporated as part of a balanced, very nutritious diet plan that includes a lot of other high antioxidant foods including blueberries, pumpkin, spinach, kale, pomegranate, sweet potatoes and even more as the list of healthy, highly nutritious foods goes on and on. Even small amounts of dark chocolate and a glass of red wine make the list. With no doubt though one of the greatest pieces of nutritional advice is “all things in moderation”.
Acai berries and the products made from them can be an unusually healthy contribution to a well-balanced and healthy diet plan. The high nutrition and the excellent antioxidant qualities can help you decrease the effects of aging, lose extra weight and prevent serious disease, not on its own but only as a component of a nutritious overall diet plan.
High nutrition requires the synergy of a large spectrum of nutrients working as one in harmony and one food, no matter how nutritious cannot do it alone. Moreover, with all foods and all nutrition, moderation is key.
You get all the information you want about weight loss side effects and the easiest and most resourceful method to get the body you dream of.

Reduce Belly Fat With Proven Fitness Strategies
Most people are interested in losing weight as their new year’s resolution. Even if you are in good shape, you may have a few extra pounds around your stomach that you’d like to get rid of. Do you know how to reduce fat and show off your six pack of abs? How about a flat stomach? Having a trim mid-section can be a real challenge.
Getting your body healthy can be difficult for anyone trying to get into shape. Imagining yourself in a gym with lots of people or managing a hectic schedule that doesn’t allow for time to do your exercise can seem a bit overwhelming. The good news is that having strong abdominal muscles doesn’t have to take a long time. Just a few minutes per day of abdominal exercises can go a long way.
To get a strong set of abdominal muscles, you need to work them on a regular basis. Abdominal muscles, unlike larger muscle groups, recover quickly. This means that you can work them daily and continually strengthen them. To be most effective I recommend working the lower ab muscles first and then the upper abs which tire less quickly. Using a full range of motion can have the most beneficial impact on shaping your abdominal muscles.
Abdominal crunches are still a great way to improve your abdominal muscles. Crunches work the upper abs and work deep into your muscles. Some individuals believe that abdominal crunches are no longer effective but they work extremely well if done properly. Crunches are best done when lying on a flat surface. Start the exercise by clasping your hands gently behind your neck. Lift your feet off the floor and make sure your thighs are at a ninety degree angle towards the floor. Look up and raise your torso up towards the ceiling. Try to complete ten repetitions and eventually get to three sets.
One of my favorite exercises is the hanging leg raise. It’s easy to build ab muscles when you are using a full range of motion. This exercise is easy to learn and uses both your upper and lower abdominal muscles. Begin by hanging from a bar or door frame with adequate clearance so your feet are off the ground. Slowly raise your knees to your chest and pause for one second. Then slowly lower your legs to the starting position. It may take some time for you to do ten repetitions. Once you accomplish that goal, slowly build up to three sets of ten.
By focusing on exercises like crunches and hanging leg raises, you’re building your abdominal muscles. These muscles are essential for having what is commonly referred to as a six pack. The next step is to reduce excess abdominal fat through aerobic exercise. The best way to do this is with an activity like running or jogging. You can also cycle or swim but most people find jogging to be the easiest. By reducing your body fat percentage, you can quickly peel away the excess fat around your midsection and show off your abs.
Getting the abdominal muscles you’ve always dreamed of is simple. Start with the right exercises like crunches and hanging leg raises. Add aerobic exercise to your fitness routine and you’ll see your body fat start to melt away. Although we didn’t discuss diet in great detail, adhering to a diet that is rich in fruits and vegetables as well as low in saturated fat will go a long way in helping you achieve the six pack you’ve always wanted.
Looking for the right abdominal fat exercises? Or perhaps you simply want to get rid of abdominal fat. Either way, check out our site for proven abdominal strategies.

Vitamin D Guidelines When Pregnant
Vitamin D is a great part of proper nutrition, but this great pregnancy nutrient has so many other functions in the body. Vitamin D’s role is fundamentally calcium maintenance; in this role it maintains the healthy calcium levels in your bones. When pregnant, vitamin D may work in a similar fashion. However, this specific vitamin also touches hundreds of diverse genes and to affect multiple areas of wellbeing.
The research surrounding vitamin D is expanding every day, and recently the American Academy of Dermatology has updated their recommendations to caution the public not to not getting sufficient vitamin D. Vitamin D insufficiency is where you do not have the optimal amount of vitamin D circulating in your body, but are not identifiably deficient in the nutrient. In reference to their new guidelines, the American Academy of Dermatology’s new guidance is as follows:
“The vitamin D position statement supports the Academy’s long-held conviction on safe ways to get this important vitamin – through a healthy diet which incorporates foods naturally rich in vitamin D, vitamin D-fortified foods and beverages, and vitamin D supplements,” said David Pariser, president of the American Academy of Dermatology.
“The updated recommendation for individuals who practice daily sun protection acknowledges that while protecting the skin from the damaging rays of the sun is important, so is maintaining adequate vitamin D levels. Concern about vitamin D should not lead people to forego sun protection, but rather prompt a conversation with their physician about how to ensure adequate and safe vitamin D intake while guarding against skin cancer.”
Does this alter the guidance on vitamin D and pregnancy? Not specifically. You should still get acceptable sun exposure to manufacture the vitamin and get the rest through a healthy and balanced diet. Supplementation may help as well.
